Besides GW that is, I'm quitin' that with a friend and we're deciding on another game to play.

We're contemplating between these games and honestly they all look kinda silly. Maybe we're used to regular Guild Wars graphics but I dunno. :/

Any recommendations?

There aren't any real no-monthly-fees mmorpg except Dungeon Runner which is totally free to play if you don't want the bling gnome, and i suspect there are some thing you need to purchase as well if not mistaken, the rest of them have some kind of hidden fees somewhere, or they make you download the game for more then 24 hours .... i know Tabula Rasa is shutting down but i've been trying to download that damn client forever, and i finally decided to let it run thru the night and guess what, I started downloading yeasterday around 10am its at 57% done right now .... but, I don't know there might be one out there that someone else things is worth playing.

Archlord (free), Lineage II (private servers for free play), MU online (think it's free?).

I strongly suggest you stay away from Archlord. It's Lineage 2 without the awesome lore, and the charm that all the environments have. IMO private servers if you're desperate since the majority for any MMO are likely to be terrible. On top of that in my experiences I've found private servers to be incredibly unreliable, they crash a lot and the majority of servers are hosted by people that act like they're 10 or don't speak english. Do keep in mind there are some very decent servers, but I can't post further information about them without getting banned (I think).

Try Perfect World, it's totally free and it should hold you for at least a week. If you play it with a friend it's likely to be loads more fun. I recommend you stay away from the PvP server, unless you like random level 60+ people picking on you for fun. The community is active, english speaking, and friendly.

Oh and there's also Anarchy Online. It was P2P originally but after while it was free, then eventually they started making the expansions free as well. It's a really interesting idea for an MMO, and I'm sad that it didn't prosper for longer. It's not your traditional medieval MMO with elves and whatnot.
